Leading Astronomer and exoplanet finder Dr. Geoff Marcy, UC Berkeley, will present the latest results from the Kepler Team. Biologists are working with astronomers to assess the conditions necessary for life, especially intelligent life, on planets elsewhere in the universe. This talk will be very popular, so it will be held in the CSM Theater, Building 3, Parking Lot 2.

The San Mateo County Astronomical Society (SMCAS) offers you the opportunity to explore the mind blowing world of astronomy at your pace and based on your  level of interest. 


FREE:  All of our events and the events we support at the College of San Mateo are open to the public. Admission and parking are free

KIDS: We welcome kids to all of our events.  Grade school  children are likely to find the speakers at our meetings too technical. All our other events are sure to entertain your entire family.

 EXPLORE: Our Star Parties at Crestview Park in San Carlos provides an opportunity to look Through our telescope with your own eyes.  You can also learn about telescopes and other astronomical equipment from hobbyists who actually use them.
