CSM, Professor of Math, Physics, Astronomy

TOPIC:           SYMVISIO VIII

TIME:             7:30 p.m.
WHERE:        CSM Theater

This event is sponsored by CSM's Associated Students and Math/Science Division, and replaces our normal SMCAS general meeting.

About the event in Professor Janatpour's words: "Association of sound with space has a very ancient root. From the sound “OM” that created the world in Upanishads, dating back to 700 BC, to Sir Isaac Newton's division of the colors of the rainbow into seven intervals according to the seven notes of the diatonic scale of D, one sees human's association of audio with visual experience. In recent years many artists, using computers, have tried to give visual renditions to some classical as well as modern musical compositions by programming arbitrary choices of rules of correspondence between sound elements, such as pitch, and visual elements, such as color. Symvisio compositions are my way of looking at audio-visual experience from a different angle. "
